Thank you for stopping by!
Heather,
I am really frustrated. I am trying to find someone to come out and clean my carpets but in an environmentally safe way. Do you have suggestions for Wimberley?
Thanks so much!

i live in wimberley and am a student at katherine anne porter school and i am overwhelmingly concerned with the problem of global warming so much so that i havent the faintest idea as to where to start! i would love to join the movement in wimberley and i am also concerned with the 911 truth movement and the mainstream media that so many people of my age seem to base their lives around. i would love if we could get together someday and discuss these things or if you could possibly give a presentation at my school. my phone number is 847 3828 and if you could find time out of your intensely busy schedule to call me i would highly appreciate it. god bless you for what you do and the people you will inspire in the future.

Hi Heather,

Wow, your site is fantastic! I was wondering if you would be interested in doing an event with me at Plum Blossom Wellness. Please give me a call when you have a minute 653-0354. There are so many subjects we could address together if you're interested.

All the best,

Heather,
I'm Jane Calhoun's neice, (formerly known as Jennifer Davis). I just stumbled upon your site while searching for green diaper info (i have a baby too) and the site is so cool! It's been a long time since I've seen you or your mom and I'm so glad to find out that you are doing so well and are sharing green living with the world via this website. I'm going to post something on your "sustainable living experiences" page... Also, I followed the link to your sculptures site and your art is gorgeous...reminds me of Goldsworthy.

Hi there Heather,
Kudos to you for your efforts at raising awareness to consumption impacts, et al.
My wife and I are contemplating building our house in Burnet Ranch with cordwood construction, specifically Ashe juniper. Do you know of others in our area who have gone this route with this local resource? I noticed that the Chapparal Mortgage company at RR 12 and FM3237 seems to be partially constructed in this style, but I can't seem to get by there during business hours to have a closer look and get the history of the structure.
Also, I would love to know the plumbing schematic that you have layed out(or will lay out) for a solar heated radiant floor system. Of course, cooling is a more protracted issue where we live. It makes me wonder if it would be to any advantage to deeply entrench water pipes in the earth (to take advantage of the natural coolness of the Earth below a certain depth) and then switch the radiant floor system off of the solar collectors to that in the summer. It occurs to me that the size of the grid must necessarily be enormous and quite deep, both of which would be impractical in the rocky substrate of central Texas, but I wouldn't even know where to begin to calculate heat dissipation values for such a system. Do you know of anyone who has tried this anywhere in any type of soil?
Thanks, Stuart Cabler

Hi Heather and Marcus,

Love your website! It is so full of inspiring and informative good news...You all are ever aware and moving forward in ways that guide us all....... Congratulations on all this good work..

Jim and I particpated in the BIONEERS Houston Conference this past wekekend. It is so uplifting and confirming to be with those who are committed to create intelligent design and sustainability on our home planet now and in the future. The last 150 years have done so much damage... Yet, when we spend time with those, like yourselves, who are looking for solutions to the scarring and the bad judgement of our past deeds, and moving into a wiser future, we feel much better.........

Perhps you could somehow link to the BIONEERS site and share information... ... spreading what you have at the GreenGuru farther and wider...

Your booklist is incredible... You may want to include the books by Dr. Robert Becker, especially the Body Electric, which alerts people to the invisible new tech-NO fields surrounding us all....? All his books are wise good reads.....

Blessings along your greening way.....

Hello Heather,

Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and ideas, I am on a search for knowledge and I just filled myself up for the night. Do you know where's a good place to learn about permaculture? I'd like to see some living examples for reference on my project. Also, where would one go to purchase/obtain plants for a permaculture garden? All I see are standard suburban landscape options available and because I'm new to Austin I'm not sure what rocks to look under. Thanks for any and all help, let me know if you need any volunteers for Green Guru projects. Have a great one! -JP

Hi Heather,
Really great web site you have here - I can't wait to get a more thorough look. I wanted to let you know that on your links page, the link for the Sustainable Building Sourcebook is old and non functional. The correct link is: http://www.austinenergy.com/Energy%20Efficiency/Programs/Green%20Building/Sourcebook/index.htm
Sorry, I know it's a little messy - we've moved servers recently.... won't bore you with the details. Thanks for listing us and hopefully it won't be a problem to update the link.

I noticed your mention of people cutting cedars in an effort to ease allergy problems. My allergies are terrible, but I'll get through the ragweed, cedar fever, and oak seasons with barely a sniffle. My secret is using local honey. After years of experience I know that for me, if I've been using it, I'll be just fine, if I'm not, it won't be pretty. Any honey from Texas seems to work. It won't work in the summer when mold is the biggest culprit, but that makes sense since bees don't eat molds. Try it out!

Heather,
I saw a post of yours on Austinbiodiesel.org, and was wondering if your biodiesel class is open to anyone.
Thanks

Have you ever visited the West Cave Preserve just past Hamilton Pool ? They use rain collectors, cool earth a/c units, and solar panels. One of the coolest things is a readout panel that shows how much electricity the building is using vs. how much the solar panel is collecting. I think it would be a good idea for a home's thermostat to also show how much electricity and how much wagter are being used --- that would quickly keep this information in the mind's eye.

Dear Heather:

I've encountered you for years in Rancho Deluxe, where I work with Sally Curtis . . . & I had no idea of your amazing work on sustainability & your exquisite artwork! Green IS the color of this millennium. Please look at our new site www.sanghacafe.com & consider honoring us with being on the Links page. Thanks so much for being who you are & doing what you do. Also I'd love to see some beautiful photo on the Greenguru homepage: your home, Nature, something to catch the eye? Just a suggestion. It's a gorgeous & inspiring site.

Peace & Namaste,
Bruce
